2025 Site-specific Installation
This site-specific installation draws inspiration from the encounter of discarded Buddha statues near temples, which gradually integrate and meld into their natural surroundings. The work seeks to explore the relationship between idols, grassroots culture, and the environment through the interplay of human and arboreal forms. To evoke the inherent divinity of the tree, I manipulated clay to echo the curvature and inflection of the branches, creating a rhythm that mirrors the human body and its connection to nature.
By dispersing these clay sculptures across a one-kilometer radius and documenting the reactions of passersby, I aimed to capture the parallel spaces inhabited by both the divine trees and the individuals who encounter them. Despite the vibrant magenta hue of the newly created tree gods, which made them visually distinct, many passersby overlooked their presence, missing the opportunity to engage with this fusion of the sacred and the mundane.
