This painting is inspired by an old elementary school photo secretly taken during class, reflecting on the complexities of childhood education in China. For Chinese children, little red flower stickers serve as enticing rewards, symbolizing good behavior and academic performance. Yet, as these children grow into adults, they often confront the paradox of how this “little red flower” mentality has shaped their thinking. In striving to align with collective expectations or gain external approval, they may suppress their true thoughts and act in ways that contradict their inner beliefs.
